Home Deliveries by Catherine Léger
[translated from Deux femmes en or, very freely adapted by Catherine Léger from the original screenplay by Marie-José Raymond and Claude Fournier]
Violet is on mat leave. Florence is on sick leave. Both of them are moms, tied to their young children by invisible wires of steel… while their husbands barely notice they’re alive. Together, these two bored, abandoned and dissatisfied women decide to take their pleasure into their own hands and fight back in the most hilarious way possible: by going on a shared mission to seduce a string of lovers, all without walking out the front door.

FLORENCE: I was watching CBC yesterday. Did you know that monogamy was invented for men, not for women?
VIOLET: I didn’t even know it was invented, I thought it was natural.
FLORENCE: It’s there so that a loser has a chance to get a woman, too. In a polygamist system, the richest and handsomest men get all the girls. And there’s nothing left for ordinary guys.
VIOLET: So monogamy’s good, right? Every man has a woman, and every woman has a man.
FLORENCE: But, a loser man. (beat) Sometimes 1/8th of a hot guy beats an entire loser.
