CURRENT PROJECTS (2025):
LES GLACES (Rébecca Déraspe): Overnight, Vincent's life is turned upside down. An old girlfriend accuses him of sexually assaulting her 25 years ago. Devastated, his wife kicks him out. He sets off for his native Bas-du-Fleuve, where he meets up with his father, his sister and... his best friend from his teens, obviously there for the same reason. As the past resurfaces, the two forty-something men are confronted with an act they had tried to bury deep within themselves… while the women in their lives are demanding accountability, maybe for the first time. This translation of Déraspe’s Prix Michel-Tremblay-winning script has been commissioned by Talisman Theatre. (3F/3M)
CEUX QUI SE SONT ÉVAPORÉS: Inspired by the Japanese phenomenon of the Evaporated – over 100,000 people per year who voluntarily disappear – Déraspe explores what would make a conventional-seeming young woman (with a good job, partner, family, and young child) walk out on her previous life forever. As the play unfolds, we see Emma through her own eyes and through the eyes of all those she has left behind. The piece culminates in a devastating confrontation between Emma and her now-adult daughter that acknowledges the cost of the protagonist's quest for freedom and self-determination. Translation of this Prix Michel-Tremblay-winning script commissioned by Vancouver theatre company The Search Party. (4F/3M)

176 STEPS (Fanny Britt): A beautiful story about children overcoming personal challenges to create a friendship across the class divide, told through the charming puppetry of Théâtre de 'l’Oeil accompanied with original music by Ariane Moffatt. Available for touring.
AUDITIONS, OR, ME, MYSELF, AND I (Angela Konrad) Ricky is an auteur, an enfant terrible, and all the other French words for a controlling pain in the ass. As she holds auditions for her radical version of Richard III, we see her grip on power and reality unravelling as relentlessly as Richard’s own. This translation was commissioned by La Fabrik. BECOMING CHELSEA (Sébastien Harrisson): In the deepest hours of the night, a woman balances precariously on the window-ledge of an Old Montreal hotel. Down below, the rain-soaked cobblestones echo with the steps of an insomniac jogger while a black-clad biker prowls the deserted streets. When these three paths converge on an elevator car, questions around patriotism, identity, belonging, and what we owe to each other come to a momentous point of decision. An existential thriller inspired by Chelsea Manning’s visit to Montreal and other real-life events. Translation commissioned by Les 2 Mondes. (1F/3M)
CYRANO’S LAST ACT: A †héâtre d’objets version of Cyrano de Bergerac for the renowned Théâtre Motus.
PANACHE (Gabriel Sabourin) It’s the end of the 19th century, and failed playwright Edmond Rostand has escaped to the countryside after yet another disastrous opening night. But when he falls for his dreamy-eyed house servant, who in turn loves a handsome soldier, it sets off a comic chain of events that will inspire his greatest triumph: the legendary CYRANO DE BERGERAC. Translation commissioned by Théâtre du Rideau Vert. (2F/4M)
TALES OF THE SNOW (Philippe Soldevila): Octavio struggles to fit in with his very homogeneous community… a goal not helped by the foreign ways of his artist dad. Continuing the Emigration Trilogy that began with his acclaimed Tales of the Moon, Soldevila’s Conte de la neige follows his young hero Joan to Quebec City in the 1960s… but now Joan is a father, seen from the point of view of his exasperated young son. This autobiographical trilogy, which began with Tales of the Moon, takes us through three generations and concludes with Tales of the Sun. This translation was commissioned by Bouchewhacked Theatre Collective. (2M/1F).
TALES OF THE SUN (Philippe Soldevila): Étienne is the son of Octavio, a newly-divorced dad who is also a playwright/actor struggling with writer’s block … so it’s no surprise that Étienne ends up feeling like the grown-up in the relationship. It takes a magical journey to the past to bring father and son together again. The final part of he autobiographical Emigration Trilogy that began with his acclaimed Tales of the Moon, Soldevila’s Conte du soleil follows his young hero Octavio to modern-day Montréal… but now Octavio is a father, seen from the point of view of his exasperated young son. This translation was also commissioned by Bouchewhacked Theatre Collective. (2M/1F)
THE DESERT (Olivier Sylvestre): Why am I still in your bed? And will I be there tomorrow? This poetic and physical solo performance speaks of addiction, and also of disorientation… the kind that comes when you’re high; when you wake in the middle of the night; when love is leaving you. Bouchewhacked Theatre Collective has commissioned a translation of Le désert, which premiered to critical acclaim at Théâtre Prospero in 2018 and was published – in a beautiful format that highlights its surreal and poetic quality – in 2019. WHY ARE YOU CRYING? (Christian Bégin) A father reigns over his family until his final breath. A son seeks peace. A mother sinks into the polite silence of appearances. Then comes the reading of the will… and the patriarch tightens his grip on them all, even after death. From the renowned Montréal troupe Les Éternels Pigistes and the writer of APRÈS MOI [AFTER ME] comes this tragi-comedy about democracy, wealth, money, power, and the true nature of “dear old Dad”. Commissioned by Ruby Slippers Theatre. (3F/3M)

THE MECHANICAL BIRD, a vast and immersive multimedia installation, takes flight on summer nights on the ski lift at Le Massif in Charlevoix (Atelier Occhio)
BEYOND KING TUT: An immersive exploration of the life and legacy of the most famous pharaoh. I translated the section on Tutankhamun’s journey into the afterlife. (National Geographic).

Mohsen El Gharbi's stunning solo piece about the transmission of family violence had its English-language début at the Impact Festival in Kitchener-Waterloo Oct. 1-3, 2021, followed by its Montréal premiere with Infinithéâtre.
